Kgalagadi with friends .....

After such an awesome experience traveling with the roof top tent through Namibia in June it was time to hit the trails again. This time in the Northern Cape, The Kgalagadi Frontier Park. Friends Steve and Angela Hall had decided to try their hand at camping in the Parks after following this blog through Namibia. When they told us about it, I just couldn't be left behind. Thankfully Dave couldn't say no after my puppy face eyes and at the end of October we were off again.

Some of you might remember how we left the map at home on the last trip....... Well we had the map this time but the handle of one of my bags jammed the boot closed so every stop and go past Clanwilliam was a chance to pry it open to no avail. However when we got to our first camp spot just outside Upington at a lovely place called Oranjerus, Dave managed to kick the door open from the inside and we're just ignoring the dent on the outside as that's part of the character now.

We travelled into the Kgalagadi the following day with our first night at Twee Rivieren then two nights at Nossob, one at Mata Mata and back to Twee Rivieren for a night. These camps are all fenced in but there are camps like Bitterpan where Steve and Ange went on the third night with their 4x4 which are wild camps. The picnic spots that you may stop at are also unfenced with Cheetah a mere 500 meters away from us (which we only saw when leaving).

You drive along river beds so we had the sand storm experience but game was easier to spot at times. We also had thunder and lightning a couple of evenings which made camping very interesting and exciting too.

The area is known for its Black Maine  Lions and we were very excited to see them and Cheetah so the camera was working over time but I have chosen a few pictures that I like to show you. The Kgalagadi is also well know for its bird life and it was great to see so many raptures.

Needless to say the boxes are once again packed and ready for our next adventure, its just an awesome simple lifestyle that we both love.
